AGENDA
FLYER

Please join top scientists, including 2007 Nobel Peace Prize recipients from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the public sector and industry to share insights on how climate change is projected to affect Southern California, and strategies for adapting and creating more resilient communities in this unprecedented period of change. This conference, targeting local and regional governments, the scientific community, and the business community, as well as interested public, runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Northrop Grumman Presentation Center, One Space Park inRedondo Beach.

Sea level rise, severe storm events, rising temperatures, reduction in the quantity and quality of our water supply, damage to marine and other ecosystems, and decline in air quality are already occurring. Even as people around the world and locally work on reducing greenhouse gases that drive climate change, we must begin to adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change and build resiliency to weather future changes. Join organizations, cities and industry in exploring scenarios and making plans.

Please register at the link below to attend this FREE thought-provoking conference sponsored by Northrop Grumman, Southern California Association of Governments, City of Hermosa Beach, University of Southern California-Sea Grant program, South Bay Cities Council of Governments, Environmental Institute of the University of California, Irvine, and Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI).

Why act now? Join top scientists, Nobel Peace Prize recipients from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), public policy-makers and industry representatives in a discussion on:

  • Climate change impacts on local communities (such as sea level rise, water management, heat index rise, community health impacts)
  • Climate adaptation policy frameworks
  • Decision-making an uncertain world
  • Risk assessment & the role of the insurance industry
  • Local case studies, tools & strategies
