| The GREEN LA Coalition
In November 2005, the Liberty Hill Foundation and Environment Now convened the Los Angeles Working Group on the Environment to advise Los Angeles’ newly elected mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, and his staff and appointees on how to transform Los Angeles into a national leader in environmental health and equity. Renamed GREEN LA in June 2006, the group has grown into a vibrant coalition of over 100 mainline and cutting-edge environmental and environmental justice organizations that provide vision, expertise and community support toward making Los Angeles the greenest "Big City" in America.
The GREEN LA Institute is the education and capacity building arm of GREEN LA. The Institute works with the GREEN LA Coalition to bring timely information and access to policy makers to the environmental community.
