Landscaping Lightly: A Sustainable Landscape Workshop for Homeowners

The Council for Watershed Health and the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in partnership with the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy invite you to Landscaping Lightly, a free workshop on Sunday, March 18, 2012. The workshop will take place at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden from 12:00PM to 4:30PM in Ayres Hall. We will be opening the gates to Ayres Hall at beginning at 10:00AM to let participants roam the arboretum and stop by the Peacock Cafe for a bite. We also invite participants to come early and check various organizations information tables and vendor stalls. Topics for the workshop include native plant gardening, rainwater harvesting, backyard fruit and vegetable growing, tree selection and tree care, composting and mulching, controlling invasive plants, and creating a fire safe landscape. Owen Dell, author of Sustainable Landscaping for Dummies will be speaking and signing books.
