Southern CA Water Brown Bag Lunch Dialogue - Stormwater Capture - Quality Counts

Stormwater capture does holds great potential, yet managing urban stormwater pollution must also be addressed. Last month, we explored ways of utilizing stormwater runoff as an asset to augment water supplies. The Regional Water Quality Control Boards are increasingly incorporating requirements for runoff capture in stormwater discharge permits in order to reduce water quality impairments. What is the state of runoff water quality? What can we expect in the next round of permit renewals? How will these permit requirements be met, and how will we pay for them?
Speakers:
Dr. Martha Sutula, Principal Scientist, Biogeochemistry Department, Southern California Coastal Waters Research Project
Deborah Smith, Chief Deputy Executive Officer, Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board
Renee Purdy, Chief of Regional Programs, Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board
Jon Van Rhyn, Water Quality Program Manager, County of San Diego and Chair, San Diego Regional Stormwater Management Committee
Phil Doudar, Watershed Management Division, Los Angeles County Public Works
